Congratulations to seniors Nyera Ali and Akshara Chevireddy, whose award-winning research on precise genome editing has now been published in MicroPublication Biology.

Working under the mentorship of Dr. Reine Protacio at UAMS, the students presented this project at the Central Arkansas Regional Science and Engineering Fair, the Arkansas State Science and Engineering Fair, and the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair—earning multiple distinctions along the way.

Their work was completed in the laboratory of Professor Wayne Wahls in the UAMS Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, supported in part by a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences at the National Institutes of Health.
