About the Carl W. Lindell Endowed Scholars Fund

The Carl W. Lindell Endowed Scholarship Fund at Pulaski Academy was privately established to honor Carl W. Lindell and his work with African American youth. The goal is provide financial assistance to an African American male who has demonstrated academic ability, acceptable personal character, leadership traits and a financial need.

The Pulaski Academy Financial Aid Committee will identify a recipient based on financial need, admission test score, transcript, writing sample and their interview. The student selected will receive the scholarship in the amount equal to the annual cost of tuition, building fund and fees. The recipient will responsible for the cost of books. In order for the scholarship to renew annually, the recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA, appropriate classroom conduct and possession a continued financial need.

Email these documents to Janie Shirey at Pulaski Academy:

  • Provide two full years of academic records - Student should have a minimum GPA of 3.2
  • Submit an evaluation form provided by PA from his current Math and English teacher
  • Complete and return the PA Student Statement form
  • Provide three references from organization leaders, community leaders or other teachers who have been associated with the student
  • Present an essay indicating goals and ambitions in life
  • Provide a list of civic or community service experiences
  • Participate in a personal interview with members of the PA Scholars Committee
 

Scholar Program Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to apply for the Scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:
 
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Possess high intellectual capacity; a high academic standing; be highly motivated to succeed and a good work ethic; has strong communication skills
  • Exhibit strong leadership potential; is willing to engage in school activities and immerse in the campus community; models exemplary character by demonstrating the courage to “do the right thing; honors commitments; is responsible for decisions; is considerate of others; is reliable and dependable; is honest, sincere, and trustworthy; is an inspiration to others.
  • Models daily PA’s Core Values; Responsibility, Respect, Integrity and Excellence.     
  • Demonstrates a need for financial assistance
