PA Parent Stories
Kate Moffitt

About Kate:
I am a PA Alumni (‘04) and PA Parent of three girls; one in Middle School, one in Lower School, and one in Early Childhood School. We love being a part of the PA Family! I am always happy to answer any questions about the school and share our experiences.
What characteristics were important to you in finding the right school for your children?
We wanted an environment that would encourage our children to pursue excellence on their own terms--a school with a research-based curriculum and experience. We wanted a school where kids were given time to create, play, and learn in a way that was best for them at each stage. We also wanted a school that cultivated a sense of community, kindness, and character.
What advice would you give a family that is considering PA, but has concerns or reservations about applying?
Pulaski Academy is a unique place; it has the small-town community feel of Arkansas combined with academic excellence that can compete with any elite school. It's a great place to be a part of as a parent and it is a great feeling to send your kids to school every day. PA encourages kids to discover their talents and cultivate their critical thinking skills within the context of fun learning experiences.
Shamim Okolloh

About Shamim:
I'm from Kenya, but now I call Little Rock home. Being from another country and raising my kids here, it's important to me to have a village of friends and a "second" family. We found that at PA-- the community with the bonus of great academics. I would be happy to connect with you.
What reservations or concerns did you have prior to enrolling?
Since I did not have a K-12 education in the US, I had concerns about being able to understand the education system and help my children navigate. I was also worried about fitting in and affordability.
How did PA stand out to you from other schools?
As a single mother, the admissions process seemed daunting, but the PA admissions team guided me with affordable options for my children's education. I was impressed that PA was accessible to families from diverse social-economic backgrounds. After I toured the campus, I got a warmer, family/community feel at PA.
Ingrid Arinez

About Ingrid:
My husband and I are originally from Bolivia and Bulgaria. We have made Little Rock our home for the last 15 years. We have three daughters that attend PA. We like the outdoors, traveling, and learning about different cultures and cuisines. We love PA! If PA is where your family wants to be, do not let any obstacle stand in the way. Our admissions team would be happy to work with you and I'd love to share our PA story with you.
What do you value most about PA's education?
Since we joined PA, we have seen how our kids work independently after school to finish their homework assignments. PA teachers help our kids work on their areas of weakness and advance in their strengths. We believe the quality of education in the classroom, dedicated teachers, and smaller class sizes will prepare our kids for college entrance exams and life in college.
How were your concerns about attending PA resolved?
The admissions team quickly reached out to us when they noticed that we had three children but only submitted an application for one of them. We shared that we could only afford the tuition for one of them and would keep the other two in public school. The admission office was extremely helpful showing us the possibilities and how we can make it happen for the three of them to attend PA.

At Pulaski Academy, we encourage every family not to let concern about the cost of education prevent them from exploring how to make a PA education affordable.
We understand that the cost of attending an independent school requires making a significant investment in your child’s education and future. Recognizing that every situation is unique, we are committed to working with each family to find ways of making a PA education a reality.
Pulaski Academy offers financial aid to qualified students based on demonstrated need. Demonstrated need is defined as the difference between the school's tuition and what the family can reasonably afford to pay. To determine the amount a family can reasonably pay for tuition, Pulaski Academy uses the analysis of an outside, objective service called Clarity.
